The location
Munich
Tradition with a future
With its historical heritage and the centuries-old buildings that make up its picturesque cityscape, the Bavarian capital is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. The cultural highlights, many with a long tradition, and its status as a business and science metropolis not only offer an exceptionally high quality of life for its citizens, but also make Munich a sought-after location for companies, creative artists and people who love something special. The close connection between urban structures and the pure experience of nature is one such unique feature. As Munich’s “river of life”, the renaturalised Isar, which makes for fun swimming in the heart of the city, is an integral part of the cityscape. The English Garden is also a hotspot for romantics, culture vultures, sports enthusiasts and nature lovers who come here to take a stroll, enjoy a picnic, play sport and have fun – and is a symbol of Munich citizen’s attitude to life. In addition to the countless cultural offerings in the city centre, the surrounding mountains and lakes offer attractive local recreational destinations that appeal to a great many tourists. Far beyond Bavaria’s borders, the Munich Oktoberfest and the Hofbräuhaus, which opened in 1589, are among the city’s landmarks. Just like the Marienplatz, the carillon of the neo-Gothic New Town Hall, the State Opera, the Stachus and the many beautiful beer gardens in the countryside, they define the city’s face and character.
Munich Fürstenried
Life in a garden city
In Fürstenried, which was developed as a purely residential district in the south of Munich, larger residential complexes and attractive single-family houses dominate. The most significant building in the district is Fürstenried Palace, which is affectionately known as “Klein-Nymphenburg” (“Little Nymphenburg”). For families in particular, for whom the neighbourhood is very popular, the established infrastructure and proximity to the surrounding nature offer an excellent quality of life with high recreational value. Well connected to public transport and the motorway, many inner-city destinations and the surrounding area can be reached in no time. Numerous green strips and gardens connect the residential development and are popular areas for rest and encounters. With the palace park, Forstenrieder Park and the wildlife park, there are attractive local recreation destinations right in the district. Also worth seeing are the castle-like church of St. Matthias and the late Gothic plague column. The Schweizer Platz with the “Schweizer Brocken” fountain invites you to regular weekly markets. The Rewe supermarket is also located here, which, together with the new Edeka supermarket, provides local supplies. The almost rural structures, which include a vibrant club life and a lively neighbourhood, are appreciated by the people of Fürstenried just as much as the traditional restaurants and beer gardens where they gather on many summer evenings. The neighbourhood also offers a well-developed education sector, which is particularly appreciated by families. Its proximity to the industrial and commercial centre of Obersendling makes the location particularly attractive for those working there.
